Capable of burning thousands of hectares
Three battalions will be formed in the Southern Military District, equipped with heavy flamethrower systems “Solntsepek” and “Tosochka”. “The Ministry of Defense plans by 2027 to form three new battalions with heavy flamethrowers in the Southern Military District, which will be armed with heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A Solntsepek and TOS-2 Tosochka. They will cover the south of the country – the Caucasus, Crimea and the border with Ukraine, “the message says.

Military expert Alexey Leonkov told what is the main advantage of heavy flamethrower systems.
– The southern direction is considered one of the main ones. TOS-1A and TOS-2 are essentially multiple launch rocket systems. They differ in that the “Solntsepek” has twenty-four guides and tracked chassis, and the “Tosochka” has eighteen guides and wheeled chassis. Compared to the first TOS, which was called “Buratino”, the firing range indicators for TOS-1A and TOS-2 increased to ten kilometers. Until a certain time, heavy flamethrower systems were listed in the troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection (RHBZ) and were intended to treat contaminated open areas. But at the same time, this system is capable of striking manpower and lightly armored equipment, while in addition to the high-explosive fragmentation factor, they also have a thermobaric one. You need to understand that this is a multiple launch rocket system, that is, it is capable of burning out an area of hundreds and even thousands of hectares. Everything that is in these territories is destroyed. In other words, no one will survive. By the way, the performance of these systems was tested in Syria in 2017. They made a terrible impression on the local “barmaley”. The press then wrote that TOC was more beneficial than any other system. Indeed, in addition to the striking effect, they also have a psychological effect. And the most interesting thing is that during the actions in Syria, not a single “Solntsepek” was lost.
It is clear that such systems will be used only by order of the district command and will be sent to those places where the effect will be maximum, for example, for breaking through, breaking into, defending or destroying a fortified area.
