One of the journalists asked Nuland to comment on the threat Washington to impose sanctions against Nord Stream 2. The correspondent asked how the United States can harm the gas pipeline if its construction is completed.
The journalist noted that, in fact, Russia can already pump anything through the pipeline: not only gas, but also olive oil or vodka.

“Vodka would be good,” Nuland joked in response.
At the same time, a representative of the State Department said that Nord Stream 2 had not yet been certified by the authorities of the European Union and Germany.
Earlier, Washington said that the United States would impose sanctions on Nord Stream 2 in the event of Russia's “invasion” of Ukraine. German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock made the same threats.
