Russia is involved in hacker attacks on the websites of state and commercial organizations of Ukraine. This is stated on the website of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

“Today, we can say that all the evidence points to the fact that Russia is behind the cyberattack,” — said in the message. At the same time, the ministry said that the personal data of Ukrainian citizens are safe.

The ministry believes that the purpose of cyber attacks was to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, stop the work of the public sector and undermine confidence in power from the citizens of the country. The attacks are being investigated by the State Communications Service, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and cyber police officers.

As a result of a large-scale hacker attack on the websites of state structures in Ukraine, the portals of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Ecology and other departments did not work. They appeared appeal in Ukrainian, Russian and Polish, the authors of which called on Ukrainian citizens “to be afraid and expect the worst.” It claimed that all the personal data of Ukrainians was “uploaded to the general network”.

According to the SBU, in total, hackers attacked 70 state portals, ten of them were subjected to unauthorized interference. However, the agency assured that no personal data was leaked.

The fact that Russia is behind the hacker attack was previously stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov. This is also stated on the website of the country's Security Council (SBU). According to the department, the attackers used the so-called supply chain attack, that is, an attack through the supply chain. The hackers hacked the infrastructure of a commercial company that had access to the administration rights of the affected sites, the service believes.

The Kremlin denies Russian hackers' involvement in hacking Ukrainian sites. According to presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the accusations against Russia are unfounded. “We are almost used to the fact that Ukrainians blame Russia for everything, even bad weather in their country,” — said Peskov.
